Why the need for Loving The One Day?
In the USA we have:
-
Over 5,000 homeless shelters
-
Over 3,200 food lines for the
hungry
-
And one of the highest numbers of
millionaires in the world, per capita
In between the millionaires and our homeless families,
there are 80 million families just struggling to get by. This is most of
America!!
Loving The One Day is dedicated to filling the gap between
these two segments of our population. In our partnership with
Filling-the-Gap.org, we are able to connect and distribute the resources between
“those who have” and “those who have not”. By taking the time to love another
and give to those in need, one person’s surplus can now become the means to some
else’s survival… possibly for someone in your own backyard!
It is middle America that creates the fabric of our
nation! As American’s we give over and over again, year after year to millions
of starving children; to those deprived of basic medical attention or even clean
drinking water. This shows the strength of our nation and of our people! It is
the middle class segment that supports our homeless shelters, food drives for
the hungry and gives every week at their local church or community center. In
the United States, year after year, middle America also continues to give to
people in countries who have no food, no water, and are enduring living
conditions we can’t even imagine. Yet middle America also suffers!
Unfortunately, we have over looked what is happening within our own local
communities. We have overlooked the families that have been making the effort,
have supported others and yet are still missing out on their own basic needs.
For them, life is a daily struggle; a constant worry about how “Peter can pay
Paul” so something does not get turned off, taken away or withheld such that
their ability to truly become self sufficient is hindered. They struggle to
keep food on the table, pay the electric bill, and rarely have quality time with
their children. However, if we are not paying attention to the needs of our
middle class, not providing them with the basic resources for flourishing, we
find them falling into collections, bankruptcy, foreclosures, auto
repossessions, etc. By allowing this to continue, we weaken the fabric of
America that continues to give to less developed nations.
So who helps middle America when they experience a life
altering event? In many cases these events have a domino effect which leads
them into emotional trauma, financial indebtedness, bankruptcy, divorce and
chronic depression. What if we could change all that? Loving The One believes
we CAN! By providing a “hand up” to 5,000 families, who in turn each provided a
“hand up” to 5 more families, who in turn provided a “hand up” to 5 more…we can
change the nature of our country, learn to truly care for our neighbors, and
continue to build upon our efforts in order to reach the world.
We have the resources to provide the basics to all those in
need! In America, and with our technology, we have the ability to connect these
resources in order to create a powerful network and infrastructure where surplus
and knowledge can be shared to empower those who lack.
Who are the individuals in our Loving The One Families
that make what we do so unique?
It is the single mom working three
jobs to pay for food and education for her children.
It is the widowed father with four
children at home who struggles to maintain a loving home environment while
continuing his work.
It is the unemployed “laid off”
worker who is fighting to make the mortgage payment so he can keep a roof over
his family’s head… and keep providing for his elderly parents.
It is the family whose health care
bills, due to illnesses, have left them struggling month after month with an
added stress.
These families do not need a hand out. They need a hand up!
They need a way to get back on track so they can fix their lives, improve their
circumstances, and in turn, provide the same for others down the road.
Loving The One Day celebrates sharing success; and you can
play a positive and proactive role in helping people here at home, as well as
around the world!
Here are some US statistics to help you understand the
need:
Note: These figures are being updated at
this time.
Unemployment
Foreclosures
Evictions
Bankruptcies
Auto Repossessions
Credit Card Abuse
Single Parents working 2 or more jobs
Latch Key Children under 12
No Medical Insurance
Utility Disconnects
Over Drafted Bank Accounts
Why are these above statistics important? It is because 10
out of the 11 are not limited to the homeless or starving children in
America. They have to do with America itself! 90 Percent of America!
